The phrase “research use only” (RUO) appears on every research peptide NovaCell supplies. It is not a formality — it defines how these materials may lawfully and responsibly be used.

What RUO means

RUO materials are intended exclusively for laboratory research. They are not medicines, foods, cosmetics or veterinary products, and they are not intended for administration to humans or animals. They are sold to researchers, institutions and laboratories for in-vitro and analytical work.

Responsible sourcing

Responsible suppliers provide batch-specific documentation, clear RUO labelling and honest specifications. When sourcing for a UK laboratory, look for a Certificate of Analysis per lot, transparent purity testing, and a supplier that does not make therapeutic or human-use claims.

Documentation and record-keeping

Good compliance is largely good record-keeping: retain COAs, record lot numbers against experiments, store materials appropriately and label everything clearly. This supports both reproducibility and accountability.
